C e l e br at i n g 5 0 Y e a r s o f C o n n e c t i o n s 2 Beta Chi Columns T he 1973-74 pledge class had a reunion to celebrate 50 years since our pledging. We managed to locate all 29 members of our pledge class except for two who depledged, one who was blackballed, and one who disappeared with our pledge class treasury. Barry Harsh '74 and Cony Metcalf '74 are deceased. GATHERING THE BROTHERS Anyone who knows our pledge class knows us as eclectic and not particularly homogeneous. Those who were actives during our pledging remember us as free thinkers who were somewhat undisciplined and untrainable. In that spirit, we ignored all advice from other alumni and held our reunion on October 17-19, in the middle of the week away from Homecoming. That way, we avoided all the 50-year high school reunions. ALUMNI ATTENDANCE The first night, our dinner was held at the Westport Sheraton Chalet in St. Louis. Steve Blair '74 and Nancy, Jeff Buck '74, Mark Drumm '74 and Marieta, Jeff Feaster '74 and Becky, Roger Fleer '74 and Patti, Bill Franz '74 and Norma, myself and Tonda Haul, Larry Ott '74, Dave Perry '74, Gary Roebke '74 and Donna, Stan Shilling '74, and Kent Springer '74 and Patti attended. We had gallons of fun. The next day, 11 pledge Brothers headed to Rolla to see all the additions to the house. The stalls in the bathrooms were particularly shocking. Meanwhile, our wives went to Old Town St. Charles to empty our wallets. We took some time to wander around campus on our way back. That night, we enjoyed dinner at the Westport Train Wreck Saloon—men at one table, wives at the other. UNTIL NEXT TIME As is typical of our class, we all headed our separate ways the next morning. Some went to Missouri Wine Country, some went to Grant's Farm, some headed home, and some went to doctor's appointments. We're old, what do you want? We did all agree to not wait 50 years to do the next reunion. Fraternally, Bob Haul '74 "The dorms seemed terrible, so I looked to a Fraternity. The one that seemed the best was Kappa Sigma; I haven't regretted my decision once." –Christian Bissel '23 "I really bonded with the guys during a recruitment event at Topgolf. This led to me wanting to join this house over every other." –Isaac Jones '23 "Kappa Sigma was the house that looked the coolest and had the guys that I meshed with the best." –Jack Parker '23 Why They Jned Grand Scribe Cal Griener '21 Inner Guard Carson Neiders '22 Inner Guard Carson Neiders '22 Grand Master Tim Guccione '21 Grand Treasurer Glen Wohlgemuth '22 Recruitment Chairman Tyler Trueman '22 (314) 332-5070 Grand Master of Ceremonies Nathaniel Dalton '22 CHAPTER OFFICERS CHAPTER OFFICERS '73-74 PLEDGE BROTHERS REUNITE
