The study shows that all academic success measurements, including GPA, retention, and graduation rates, are higher among the fraternal population than the general student population. The bonds created by brotherhood and sisterhood are powerful—they motivate students to succeed. These measures are important, as they are reflected in our national university ranking and have a big impact on university income, with a high number of dorm students leaving the university after the first year. I believe this has opened the university's eyes to the value of the fraternity system. ALUMNI GATHERINGS This year represents the 120th year of Beta- Chi Chapter. We celebrated the event over Homecoming with 160 Brothers, alumni, and guests. Brothers Dan Conway '82 and Scott Stewart '90 were inducted into the Beta-Chi Hall of Fame. Rich Bradley '84 was the emcee for the event, and Rich's nephew proudly watched his uncle as a new Beta-Chi pledge. We also would like to thank Rich for his donation of the new tabletop podium. Beta-Chi alumni had six pledge class reunions that I know of this year, with three happening during Homecoming. I have been going to Homecoming for many years and hear some common themes. First, it is so much fun. Second, reuniting with pledge Brothers you haven't seen in years takes one minute, and it's like you were never apart. Lastly, alumni wish they had taken the time to reach out to others and get them to attend. If you or your class wants to organize a reunion, we keep a database of our alumni contact info that is available on our website. The password is aekdb. If you have updated contact information to share, please send it to me or update it on the website. SUPPORTING OUR UNDERGRADUATES We are still trying to raise money to renovate and expand the weight room. It is about a $40,000 project that includes expansion, weights, bikes, treadmills, and equipment. This is one of the most used rooms in the Chapter House and a selling point for potential new members. Students have free time, and we all know the ways that free time can be spent. This is a healthy and safe option for spending those spare hours. Beta-Chi Chapter continues to excel and make our alumni proud. Our undergraduates again won the prestigious Founders Award for Chapter Excellence for being one of the top Chapters in the country. We thank our alumni for their support.
