Box 1880 Tuscaloosa, AL 35403-1880 Address Service Requested THE AUBURN SIG One of the Greats JOHN SMYTHE '93 RECEIVES SIGMA CHI'S HIGHEST HONOR A t this summer's 84th Grand Chapter in Toronto, John Smyth '93 became the sixth Gamma Sigma to be inducted into the Order of Constantine. e Order of Constantine Award is considered the highest honor that Sigma Chi bestows on one of its members in recognition of over 20 years of exemplary commitment, dedication, and service to the Fraternity. John has served our chapter in some capacity since he was an undergraduate officer in the early 1990s. He is presently a member and long-serving secretary of the Sigma Chi Foundation at Auburn University. He previously served the chapter in roles as a house corporation member and officer and as chapter advisor. John was also instrumental in planning and leading the rechartering of Gamma Sigma through the colony process in 2017-19, which culminated with the reinstallation of our chapter in spring 2019. He joins Bob Benz '60 as Gamma Sigma's only living members of the Order of Constantine. Chapter Eternal Order of Constantine Auburn Sigs are Leo Bidez '40, Herb Drake '41, Hank Erkel '65, and Buddy Metcalf '69. John and his wife, former Sigma Chi Little Sister and Chi Omega, Leigh Ann Waddle, live in Vestavia Hills. e Smyths have two adult children: Mary Katherine, Fordham University class of 2023, and Hunter, United States Military Academy class of 2024.
