Crimes Scene Library 2023 in- cludes the following presentations and guests: •Amanda Lamb, WRAL Reporter and author, Podcasting Is the Fu- ture! •Dr. Khalid Lodhi, Director of the Forensic Science Program at Fayetteville State University, on how Bed Bugs Solve Crimes: New DNA Vectors and eir Role in Criminal Investigation •Christine Mumma, Executive Di- rector of the North Carolina Center on Actual Innocence, on Reversing Injustice: How Wrongful Convic- tions Happen and Take Decades to Fix •Dr. Christopher rasher, His- tory and Political Science Instructor, Fayetteville Technical Community College, on e Trial of Ann K. Simpson, the first woman tried for murder in Cumberland County •Dave Pauly, Dr. Steve Downs and Isis Tutman, from the Forensic Science department at Methodist University, on Modern-Day Fo- rensic Science: Latent Fingerprint Processing & DNA Extraction •Methodist University's Legal Studies Program on Paralegals and Trial Preparations in Criminal Cases •Fayetteville Police Department's Forensic Unit with an Interactive Crime Scene for participants to explore. e Crime Scene Library 2023 case file, found at bit.ly/crimes- cenelibrary, provides intelligence about each of the speakers and their presentations. e site also offers supporting evidence, such as true crime trivia, a virtual escape room, reading recommendations, stream- ing music, videos and more. At the end of the event, drawings for door prizes will be awarded, such as gift vouchers for local escape rooms, crime investigation games and other true crime-related prizes.
