J ohn Kuryla '20 spent a semester abroad, where he studied in Budapest and Hungary and visited France, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Ireland, Austria, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Spain in the process. John gained a new perspective on the way people of other cultures live their lives, and he says the opportunity improved his creativity. He concluded his summer with an internship at Boston Consulting Group in Houston. Philip Soh '21 spent his summer at Lime Rock Resources, an oil and gas private equity firm that focuses on upstream production. They have raised almost $10 billion over multiple funds and have made over 35 major acquisitions. Philip learned about commodity hedging and visited oil wells in the Brazos Bend Oil Field. Dawson Hastings '20 spent his summer as a Capital Markets Intern at JLL in Houston, a global Fortune 500 commercial real estate services firm. Dawson supported the building of OMs and underwriting for sales and debt deals of all property types and gained valuable knowledge of how interest rates, inflation, and market expectations affect the way real estate owners and lenders invest their capital.
