Golden-Bear
Town
of
Quartzsite
held
their
fi
rst
General
Plan
workshop
Friday,
Septem-
ber
15th
at
the
Community
Center.
There
were
almost
30
in
attendance.
Attendees
sat
in
small
groups
discussing
different
topics
of
the
General
Plan.
Most
understoon
the
General
plan
was
a
road
map
of
sorts,
a
guide-
line
for
the
next
10
years.
An
interesting
question
was
asked,
"Where
do
you
consider
the
commercial
center
of
town?"
There
was
consensus
that
due
to
lack
of
planning
in
the
early
days,
there
is
no
defi
ned
"center"
of
town.
Most
felt
there
could
be
developments
that
would
create
a
small
business
sector.
Further
discussions
included
housing
issues,
quality
of
the
water,
sewer,
housing
concerns,
commercial
growth,
development,
medical
access,
attracting
new
businesses,
technology,
and
ideas
shared
about
where
growth
should
be
focused.
Most
folks
felt
the
importance
of
an
airport
was
not
high
on
the
list
of
priorities
right
now.
Discussions
about
the
Town's
Camel
Express
transit
system
brought
out
many
ideas
for
the
future,
as
did
marketing
the
Town.
Keeping
open
space
was
an
im-
portant
topic.
The
next
meeting
will
be
held
Saturday,
September
20th
from
10am-2pm
at
the
Community
Center.
