Combatants on both sides used the Military (Wire) Road to move north and south, disrupting civilian life. The town was occupied by Union troops after the Battle of Pea Ridge and became a center for Union recruit- ment and hospitals. Of course not everyone was Unionist and the town suffered conflict among citizens and from roaming guerillas. Dr. Jami Lockhart will explore the actual landscapes of Fayetteville, showing divisions among the citi- zens, the occupying Union troops, and Confeder- ate attempts to retake the town.
