Beta Omicron Times Beta Omicron Times Alumni Edition | Summer 2023 W e hope to see as many of you as possible at the Beta General Convention in Dallas on August 3-6 at the Renaissance Dallas Addison in Addison, Texas. Find more info at beta.org/general- convention—even drive over and visit for just part of the day if you can! You'll enjoy yourself and your brothers! Our Chapter men, led by President Charlie Campbell '24, continue to make significant progress, especially in 2023 recruitment. They've had outstanding national representation with 10 men attending Wooden. 2023 graduate Max Gauger '23, commissioner to the Board of Trustees, attended the National Fraternity Board of Trustee meetings as one of only eight undergraduate commissioners on the national board. Sadly, our planned interim house lease with AEPi at 2807 Rio Grande did not close. Although the AEPi owner worked with TBSAF and the Beta Theta Pi National Fraternity, their alumni wanted to fund an operating deficit and pursue growing their UT chapter from the seven living in this house, which was represented as not a possible outcome by the owner to us. Thankfully, the Chapter and TBSAF incurred no costs from this change of plans. We at Texas Beta Student Aid Fund continue to pursue permanent, near-campus locations as well as multiple funding structures for new construction; one such structure is the National Fraternity's existing financial model type. It is a challenging time for real estate financing; interim west campus options that fit Beta Omicron's size have been short- listed again. The Chapter men and advisors over the past four years are recognized with great appreciation for moving forward, recruiting, diligently working on Beta principles, strong brotherhood, GPA, and more. Our housing capital campaign goals remain: 1. Supporting recruiting, Men of Principle, and substance-free housing. 2. Doing so with no material increase in Chapter member dues.
