Children will have the opportunity to learn about the different instruments of the orchestra and see them up close and personal. Musician-educators will hold a brief presenta- tion about the different instrument families and demonstrate playing some of the instruments. After the presentation, participants will be allowed to touch, play and explore the different instruments they learned about! Cox will give a lecture on the 2nd Ranger Battalion in Korea in recognition of the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement. Cox is Dean and Founding Director of the Gillis-Jones Institute for Ethics and Leadership and Professor of History at Fayetteville State University. All active-duty service members get in for free. She will be engaging the audience through story- telling, demonstrating the importance of stories for connecting with our loved ones, our community and across identities. Lockhart is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing and African American Literature and a Distinguished Endowed Fellow in the Language & Literature De- partment at North Carolina Central University.
