SATURDAY, JULY 8 HORTICULTURE, HOOCH & OUT- LAWS IN FAST CARS CAPE FEAR BOTANICAL GARDEN 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Cat Yoga is back! Please take a paws and join Cumberland County Animal Services for a fun filled morning of relaxation. They will have two classes, one at 10 a.m. and the other at 11:30 a.m. The class will be an hour long. Please bring your own yoga mat and a $10 cash donation to the Animal Medical Fund. WOMEN IN POWER WORKSHOP 2800 RAEFORD ROAD, SUITE 24A 4 p.m. Women of all ages are invited to attend the Women in Power workshop to learn how to operate lawn and landscaping equipment with confidence. Participants will learn how to safely operate a blower, weed trimmer and hedge trimmer; the features, benefits and pros/cons of various gas and battery models; and how to maintain the equipment. There will be a hands-on demonstration and Q&A during the work- shop. Presenters include Nate Stobbe, co-owner, and Aaron Russell, assistant store manager. What in the world do plants have to do with racing, you ask? Well, it started with corn, but through the years the cultural interplay of moonshine, tobacco and hemp have played key roles. Come learn more in this Special Garden Exhibit – included with your Garden or Special Event Admission. This exhibit will be on display through the summer. SUNDAY, JULY 9 FRIDAY, JULY 7 EDIBLE AND MEDICINAL PLANTS CLARK PARK 3 p.m. Before the age of modern medicine, peop- le had to know how to use different plants to treat their ailments. Native plants also served as a source of food for those who knew how to properly collect and prepare them. Learn about the edible and medicinal plants of N.C. on this ranger-led hike.
