P A G E 3 | N O T E S O F T H E L Y R E IN MEMORIAM Clara Hartley Shub '66 – February 19, 2022 ALUMNAE NEWS Mary Anne Wolf McClure '49 and other members of the AXΩ "Lawrence Lunch Group" recently met for lunch at J. Wilson's. This was the first time they'd been able to get together in a while, and they plan on more lunches in the future. Mary lives in Lawrence, Kan. Jane Hanna Reeble '50 sold her Arizona vacation home in 2022 after 40 years. She will miss traveling there and seeing her AXΩ friends from many other states. She resides in Emporia, Kan. Prudy Schneck Covey '58 frequently flies back to Tennessee from Bakersfield, Calif., to visit her daughter and granddaughter and their husbands, plus her two great-grandsons. She spent many years doing volunteer work after retiring as a teacher. She still plays tennis and has traveled across the world. Naomi Olsen Mills '60 spent her first year of teaching in Paris, France, as a direct exchange teacher thanks to KU. She and two Washington State alumni taught the girls English and about the USA. Naomi spent her first year back as a fifth-grade teacher before moving to Head Start in Lawrence and then Olathe. She spent the remaining years in Bonner Springs. She now lives in Edwardsville, Kan. Email: niymil12@gmail.com Beverly Goodfellow Foreman '64 shares that since her husband retired in June, they have been on the road and have traveled from Texas to Florida, then on to California, and then Ohio to visit family. In September, they went on a cruise from Montreal to New York. "Canada was just as beautiful as our USA!" She lives in Arlington, Texas. Roberta Hickert Lees '64 attended Kansas State freshman year and was initiated into AXΩ in 1962. When she transferred to KU in the fall of 1963, she applied to have her AXΩ membership changed. She lived in the house for three years until she graduated in June 1966. She resides in Bluffton, S.C. She travels frequently to the Washington, D.C., area to see her children and seven grandchildren. Email: rebeccamctavish@yahoo.com Jane Mallonee '72 shares that as a continuing member of "The Sandwich Generation," she is her 97-year-old aunt's support system as she enters hospice care. Her aunt is the last surviving founder of Tri Delta at KU. As a retired elementary art teacher, Jane is very active in the Kansas National Education Association at the state level as well as locally on the Shawnee Mission NEA executive board. She is also the co-president of the KNEA-R Johnson County Chapter. She resides in Leawood, Kan. Email: mallomiller@gmail.com Carole Horton-Howe '74 has been appointed Priest in Charge at St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Temecula, Calif., which is near San Diego in the growing wine country and hot air balloon region. She loves playing golf and pickleball and riding her e-bike. She lives in Olathe, Kan. She writes math curriculum for her school district and works with the North Carolina Museum of Art with curriculum connection to their museum collections. She supervises senior college teaching applicants and is a KU mentor for the education department. She has five daughters and is recently widowed. She lives in Raleigh, N.C.
