N O T E S O F T H E L Y R E | P A G E 2 Our Alpha Chi and Beta Theta Pi Rock Chalk Revue directors. From left: Rosie Pennington '20, Mia Aronson '19, and Morgan Caviar '20. T he women of Phi Chapter ended the fall semester on a high note. We hosted our philanthropy event, Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi, which raised over $6,000 for the Willow! It was so fun to see our friends and family come together for an amazing cause. Later in the semester, we danced the night away at our fall semi-formal at Maceli's. As we wrapped up the semester, we endured long nights of studying for finals—with help from Mark's study snacks and a coffee truck (thank you Parents' Club!). We are proud to announce that 42 of our members achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA! While the end of the semester brought some hard goodbyes to our winter graduates, we know they will continue to reach heights beyond KU. Our members were itching to get back to another great semester! We started the spring off with a bang and held two date parties and a mixer with Delta Chi. Thank you to our social chairmen, Natalie Terranova '20 and Emma Caffey '21, for planning such great events for our members. In addition, Lily Osborne '21 planned a relaxing day at Kansas City Wellness Spa for our sisterhood retreat. Our sisters spent time bonding through yoga, the sauna, and facials, and it was such a fun day! On top of all of our great social events, our members worked hard to put on a great Rock Chalk Revue performance with our partner, Beta Theta Pi. Thank you to our directors, Mia Aronson '19, Rosie Pennington '20, and Morgan Caviar '20, for creating such a spectacular performance! We are proud to announce we retained a large majority of our new member class and did not participate in continuous open recruitment this spring. Our chapter has a total of 222 members and the campus chapter average is 211. Preparation for fall formal recruitment is in full swing! Our vice president of recruitment, Ellie Mueller '21, is preparing our members to recruit another great member class through our recruitment workshops at the house. We are excited for the 15 members who applied to support potential new members as recruitment counselors. Toward the end of the semester, we held our spring philanthropy event, Burgers and Fries with Alpha Chi, which our vice president of philanthropy, Lily Miller '22, planned. We also welcomed all the special women in our lives to attend Women's Weekend! We can't wait to see what the rest of 2023 has in store for our sisters! W e are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our sister, Piper Carter '21. Piper was a light in our chapter and will forever be remembered for her loving spirit. She made a lasting impression on every member of Phi Chapter along with her KU community. Our chapter was deeply moved by the love and support from alumnae members. We extend our sincerest gratitude for all the uplifting messages as well as the monetary donations to the House Corporation Board. With these donations, the board put together an overnight sisterhood event at the house. This night was full of joy in a place Piper loved so dearly. Our chapter felt the true meaning of sisterhood during this tragedy. The outpouring of well- wishes, love, and kindness exemplified that the bonds of our sisterhood last far beyond the years spent at KU. We cannot thank you enough for supporting us during this time.
