T7 BY CAROLINE COLLACUTT TV Media H e's been around for decades, but fans have yet to tire of the brutal honesty, in- valuable tips and delicious reci- pes that superstar chef Gordon Ramsay serves. With shows such as "Hell's Kitchen," "Ram- say's Kitchen Nightmares" and "Gordon Ramsay Uncharted," the Scottish chef has traveled to share his experience worldwide. Now, Ramsay is on the hunt for the next big name in food. "Gor- don Ramsay's Food Stars" pre- mieres Wednesday, May 24, on Fox, following the Season 13 pre- miere of "MasterChef." In this new series, Gordon makes his way out of the kitchen and into the boardroom, trading in his cast iron skillet and cutting board for revenue reports and marketing meetings, this time putting his own wallet on the line. An American adaptation of the British TV series, "Gordon Ramsay's Future Food Stars," the show follows Ramsay as he looks to find the next culinary entrepreneur he'd like to (per- sonally) financially support, of- fering the most impressive con- testant $250,000 to follow their dreams. Ramsay tests these hopeful entrepreneurs in every facet of running a successful business, challenging contestants at every phase of production, from initial marketing to product develop- ment. "The aspiring moguls will be challenged in all aspects of run- ning a food enterprise, including creating, marketing and selling to real customers. ... As Ramsay pushes contestants to their lim- its, they'll have to prove they possess the raw ingredients re- quired to succeed – drive, dedi- cation, creativity, passion and talent," Fox said of the series in a news release. Ramsay explained further in an interview with Variety: "I've hand-picked some of the most promising culinary innovators to compete for not only my in- vestment but my partnership in business. They will have to hus- tle through tough challenges, break through and set them- selves apart from the other com- petition, and make noise to prove they have what it takes to be successful." Joining this season's inaugural competition are: Aaron Valen- tine, founder of Snow Cone King; Caroline D'Amore, CEO of Pizza Girl Inc.; Elisa Strauss, owner of Confetti Cakes; Jake Aronskind, founder of the cook- ing app Pepper; Kagen Cox, owner of Kagen Coffee & Crepes; Lan Ho, owner of Fat Miilk; Queen Precious-Jewel Za- briskie, spice purveyor of Indul- gent Essential Spices; Sydney Webb, co-founder of Toto Foods, Inc., and more.
