18 | 2023 Bella vista Business association directory Babs Verbrick, Member At-Large Babs Verbrick at Be Young and Free CBD is serving as Member At-Large for BVBA. Babs and her husband Bill were married in 1974 and have been working together since Babs formed K&B Consulting Inc. in 1985. Babs is a social people- person with a get-the-job-done drive, while Bill is the more analytical type – together they make a great team. Babs grew up in the Chicago suburb of Lombard, Ill. She went to school at St. Norbert College in West De Pere, Wis., and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. Aer six fulfilling years of teaching, Babs entered the business world. She worked for Vitamins Inc. in Chicago before moving to Detroit, where she worked in the accounting and systems departments at the world headquarters of Burroughs Corp., the world's second largest computer company. Four years later, she and Bill moved to Chino Hills, Calif., and Babs was rehired by Burroughs. Two years later, she was recruited to work for a large, independent soware company, Management Science America. Aer three years as an MSA consultant working with some of the largest companies, she decided she could offer more value and service to clients by starting her own company. K&B Consulting was born. In 1986, Babs recruited Bill to work with her at K&B. Since then, they have transitioned the company from consulting to soware development, eDocSolutions, to doing business as Be Young and Free, distributing innovative cannabinoid health and skin care products from Zilis. In late 2012, Babs relocated the company from California to Bella Vista. ey love helping the people here and enjoy the area every day. Jean Galloway, Community Liaison Jean Galloway is retired and serving as community liaison for BVBA. She recently joined the BVBA board aer graduating from the Bella Vista Citizens Police Academy. In 2018, she and her husband Dave le the big-city life in Overland Park, Kan., to move to Bella Vista. In 2008, Jean retired from her career at Zurich Insurance, where she had worked two separate times for a total of 30-plus years. Between her two stances at Zurich, she worked for Olivetti Office Products, calling on businesses across the United States. She was blessed to visit 47 states and see all the sights in our beautiful country. Aer a full career, Jean spent 7 years working in the front office of a family practice medical office in the Kansas City area, which she refers to as the best, most rewarding job she ever had. Jean grew up in Mansfield, Mo. Her parents had such a heart for people and that had a big influence on her life. Her dad started a charity celebrity golf tournament to support Ronald McDonald House. Jean had her first board experience serving on the board of the golf tournament with her dad for many years. During that time, her mother served on the board of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary and loved to ring the red kettle bell during the Christmas season. Now, Jean rings the Salvation Army bell at Allen's Market each year. Living in Bella Vista is like a dream come true, Jean says. She feels it is important to be involved in the community and Bella Vista offers many opportunities to volunteer. When she and Dave moved to Bella Vista, she developed a strategy for volunteering – pick areas to get involved that have different groups of people, that way she could meet a variety of individuals and serve them in different ways. is strategy paid off and Jean is now very involved in several different areas and serves in various positions, including president of the ladies' group at Highlands Church, president and crew of Bella Vista Community Television, and now the BVBA. Jean's advice is: "Stay busy and get involved! It is up to us all to make it happen and it will be an honor to serve the community with you."
