GREEK LIFE AT KU TODAY 20% of the undergraduate population is a part of the Greek community. 42 sororities and fraternities on campus. 18 active Interfraternity Council chapters. All-IFC GPA regularly above all-men's GPA. ALPHA XI CHAPTER | PAGE 2 FRATERNITIES TODAY: THE RELEVANCY TO COLLEGE STUDENTS IN 2023 Brothers are more connected to their local communities, and they spend more time volunteering than nonaffiliated students. RESEARCH PROVES OUR MISSION IS IMPORTANT Fraternities empower students and provide a strong support system. When members seek help, they are twice as likely to turn to a brother than anyone else. Members experience greater gains in learning and graduate at higher rates than their peers. 83% of members say their confidence in their leadership skills increased because of their membership. Members are more academically engaged than their peers. C ompounded by the persistent negative news stories surrounding fraternities and sororities, it is fair to ask the question, "Are Greek organizations as relevant today as they were in my generation?" Contrary to these news stories, fraternities foster positive mental health, serve as a success accelerator for students, and inspire tremendous loyalty and connection to their college experience. Perhaps the biggest attribute of a fraternity is that it teaches us values one simply cannot learn in a classroom. By investing in the environment our chapter will return to, we can ensure the Sigma Chi house remains a space for brothers to become the greatest version of themselves. Members are 3x more likely to have an internship in college than their peers. 50% of members say their fraternity experience helped them get a job after college.
