5 Kappa Alpha Chapter E ver since childhood, Andrea Caspary '10 knew what she wanted to do with her life. A veterinary career was her calling, and she is proud to have followed her dreams. Sisterly Support "I was very excited to be part of an organization made of women from many different upbringings and paths all trying to maneuver four instrumental years of life lessons and growth," Andrea shared. She was excited to have her middle sister join Kappa Delta, and it was later an easy choice for her younger sister to follow suit. Andrea spent plenty of time eating and studying at the house during her first two years, and she was proud to call it home as a junior and senior. Andrea had the chance to live in the house alongside her "double sisters," something they all still cherish to this day. Professional Growth Sisters pursuing healthcare stuck together, motivating one another to study hard and encouraging healthy breaks when needed. Andrea's Kappa Alpha experience also helped her develop leadership and management skills when she served as VP of finance. Later during veterinary school, she was also treasurer of her veterinary class. During her studies, Andrea had the remarkable opportunities to live in an elephant village in Thailand and work at an Ecuadorian animal hospital thanks to the Moellership Scholarship. Her experiences helped prepare her for a partnership with GoodVets Tampa, working with local veterinarians to offer a full-service animal hospital with quality coverage. After volunteering throughout middle school and working part-time in high school, Andrea's lifelong calling was realized with GoodVets. She is glad to build the medical practice she wants with a compassionate team she needs. "I have always dreamed of not only opening a veterinary hospital, but to also build one from the ground up." Giving Back When Hurricane Ian struck Florida, Andrea sprang into action for the good of her community. She was humbled by her volunteer work for victims, caring for residents left without pet food or medications. The rainwater presented unique health problems, so volunteer care was crucial. "What was amazing to see was that, despite the immense hardship the victims were going through, their beloved pets were able to put a smile on their face," Andrea shared. "The human-animal connection is so beautiful, and it was an honor for me to be there to help protect it." When she isn't hard at work, Andrea enjoys staying connected with Kappa Delta through social media. Her parents live in Tallahassee, allowing Andrea to visit Kappa Alpha whenever she's in the area to catch up with the house mom, Landis. "I have definitely remained in contact with alumnae sisters—some of them are my best friends to this day." You can connect with Andrea and learn more about her veterinary work at dr.caspary@goodvets.com. Living Her Dream "I stayed a part of the sisterhood because I quickly learned to love the values, events, and women that made up the Chapter. I knew I would continue friendships with them well past college."
