2 UCW APRIL 5 - 11, 2023 WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM APRIL 5 - 9 WELCOME TO ARROYOS CAPE FEAR REGIONAL THEATRE Alejandro Arroyo owns the newest (and cleanest) lounge in New York City's Lower East Side. His sister, Molly, has a nasty habit of writing graffiti on the back wall of the local police precinct. Officer Derek is a recent NYC transplant with something to prove. Lelly Santiago is a socially awkward college student who may have discovered that the Arroyo siblings' late mother was one of the founders of hip-hop music. Two DJs/narrators spin the story in this hilariously heartfelt piece. This production will be directed by José Zayas. This play is PG-13 as it contains adult language and themes. To buy tickets, go to https://ci.ovationtix.com/36634/production/1147666 or call the box office at 910-323-4233. APRIL 16 ALL-AMERICAN TATTOO CONVENTION CROWN EXPO The goal of The All American Tat- too Convention is to give some of the bravest heroes in the world the op- portunity to be tattooed by some of the best tattoo artists in the industry. Tattoos and the U.S. armed forces have a history dating back as far as the early 1900s. To the millions of Americans who have served either as active service personnel or Reservists, this means there are count- less inked veterans. Many of these tattoos are a constant reminder of their loyalty not only to their branch/unit but also to their country. These tattoos showcase the pride in camaraderie with their fellow soldiers or in remembrance of a fallen comrade. Tattoos and body art can tell a story that words cannot. No one knows this better than our troops who, when they come back from war, often struggle to rejoin everyday life and relate to those who have no concept of what it's like in war. Tattoos give these veterans an outlet to express themselves and show the pride in being a part of something bigger than themselves. Tickets range from $23 to $58. Tickets can be bought at https://www.crowncomplexnc.com/ events/detail/the-all-american-tattoo-convention-3.
