Convention and Awards Over the summer, seven brothers, along with Chapter Advisor Royce Durman #1704, House Director Teri Gustafson, and Alumni President Keith Wolf #1142, attended the National AGR Convention in Milwaukee. The brothers had a great opportunity to learn, network, and experience some National brotherhood. We were honored with several merit awards in Academic Excellence, House Director, Communications, and Continued Membership Development. We also took home the Sleeter Bull Most Improved Chapter Runner-Up. Academics and Recruitment A goal for the fall semester was to build upon our academic achievement as a chapter. A house-wide 3.6 GPA placed us third among all fraternities on campus. Despite Greek life participation being down 29% across the entire university, our previous and current VRN Recruitment, Luke Borst #1839 and Levi Lilleberg #1851, spearheaded the recruitment efforts. Their work helped Lambda gain nine high-quality new members whom we are proud to call our brothers. Philanthropy and Homecoming Lambda brothers are getting involved on and off campus. Our fall festival date auction event was a great success, bringing in over $4,000 that will be used for educational scholarships for students interested in pursuing degrees in agriculture. We also had a great time participating in Homecoming Week festivities with Alpha Chi Omega, Triangle, and DKE. The week included several fun activities, including a lip-sync battle and dinner for 150 people at the chapter house. Fun and Formals Our brothers also participated in a fun and educational farm tour this fall, visiting the farms of both Gus Hasbargen #1859 and his neighbors, Yaggie Farms, near Breckenridge, Minnesota. Upon returning from winter break, 32 brothers and their dates enjoyed a fun weekend and formal meal for Pink Rose Formal at Cragun's Resort on Gull Lake. Lastly, the spittoon is back where it belongs after a convincing 36-15 flag football victory over FarmHouse. Making Professional Gentleman Our wonderful house director, Teri Gustafson, also known as Mrs. G, has also been working hard to help the brothers prepare for and get jobs and internships (see her article on page 5). She has also worked on increasing alumni engagement by hosting the third annual alumni networking event and by searching for new ways to increase alumni involvement with the collegians. In addition, she hosted an etiquette training dinner, where brothers and their dates were taught proper dining etiquette, table manners, and how to "work a room." She would love more alumni involvement. Please get in touch if you can assist! National Leadership Seminar The new executive team is hoping to build upon the great work done by the outgoing officers and will be heading out to Denver soon for the AGR National Leadership Seminar. The chapter looks forward to upcoming events like Minnesota Royal, Founder's Day, and the basketball and softball spittoon. Fraternally, Dane Haubenschild #1844 Noble Ruler haube018@umn.edu (763) 760-4153 Striving for Excellence Lambda Gains Knowledge in Leadership, Farming, and Professionalism Lambda Chapter had a strong start to the school year, and the momentum is continuing into the spring. At the alumni tailgate before the Gophers took on Northwestern, Luke Borst #1839, Seth Heitman #1864, and Christian Reveland #1838 (from left) made their way from the collegiate tailgate over to the alumni tailgate and were treated to hot chocolate and Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. Lambda members show off the many awards we received at the National AGR Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this summer. Brothers who went on the farm tours gather with a brand-new Fendt 1167 Vario MT that had just been dropped off the trailer in the Yaggie's shop.
