MICHIGAN GAMMA CHAPTER Welcome, New Members T he Robert "Buck" Leich Scholarship Fund was established in 2022 to benefit undergraduate ΣAE members at Michigan State University. The fund is administered and managed by the Sigma Alpha Epsilon National Foundation. It is used to pay for scholarships to attend the ΣAE Leadership School and Executives Academy, which are the two premier conferences to train future leaders for Michigan Gamma. In addition, the scholarship fund can be used to help students who may be struggling financially but maintain their GPA. Buck Leich '61 has been a volunteer for Michigan Gamma for over 50 years and was instrumental in helping to purchase the chapter house in 1984 as well as fund the first major renovation in 1996. The chapter house library is also named after him as thanks for his generous donations toward the renovation in 2016. A Scholarship Fund for Michigan Gamma Students I n the summer of 2021, Michigan Gamma built a gym in the basement of the chapter house. This was beneficial to members during pandemic shutdowns, as students were not allowed to use campus workout facilities, and local gyms in East Lansing were closed. The total cost of the gym upgrade was over $75,000. Thanks to a generous donation from Brother Fred Kleisner '66, the gym was equipped with treadmills, bikes, and elliptical machines. Members used their social funds to pay for the entire weight room. ΣAE Financial and Housing Corporation paid for the walls flooring, lighting, paint, and mirrors. According to members, the new gym is a great recruitment tool and helps keep brothers healthy and happy. Upgrades like this are made possible because of donations from our generous alumni.
