AARP Tax aid The American Red Cross will be com- ing to Quartzsite Arizona on April 15th to test and if needed, install free smoke alarms in your home. The American Red Cross Home Fire Campaign with support from thou- sands of community partners has achieved installing 2.5 million free smoke alarms and making 1 million households safer across the country. Since launching in October 2014, the campaign has saved at least 1,583 lives from the threat of home fires, which claim seven lives every day in the U.S. Most often, these tragedies occur in homes without working smoke alarms. "Smoke alarms truly save lives, and we are thrilled to have installed 2.5 million free smoke alarms with our amazing partners," said American Red Cross President and CEO Gail J. McGovern. "We are profoundly grateful for all the dedicated volunteers, donors and other supporters who have made the Home Fire Campaign a success by providing free, lifesaving services to vulnerable communities. Together, we have made meaningful strides in combating the nation's most fre- quent disaster." Because home fires remain a daily threat and the campaign has made a lifesaving difference, the Red Cross will be continuing the program with community partners as part of its standard services across the country. The Quartzsite event will start at 9AM and volunteers will be in town until 2PM. Please call the office to schedule appointment in advance at 928-248-8220. MOON MOUNTAIN QUARTZSITE, ARIZONA - The Town of Quartzsite will be conduct- ing a survey to gather community preferences on how the town should grow during the next ten years. The survey will gather input from residents and businesses about their priorities for the future growth and development of the town, including issues such as transportation, hous- ing, economic development, and recreation services. The results of the survey will be used to help set goals for the town's comprehensive plan, which will guide the town's growth and development over the next decade. "We want to hear from our resi- dents about what they think is im- portant for the future of Quartzsite," said Mayor Norm Simpson. "This survey is an opportunity for our community to have a say in the di- rection of the town's growth and de- velopment." The survey will be available in pa- per form, or you can find a link to an online survey on the Town's web- site. The survey participants will have until April 1st to complete the survey. The town will also be hold- ing public meetings to gather feed- back from residents and answer any questions they may have about the survey or the comprehensive plan. "We encourage all residents to participate in the survey" said Town Manager Jim Ferguson. "Your input is essential in shaping the future of Quartzsite." You can find more information about the survey and the compre- hensive plan update on the town's website and can also contact the town office for more information.
