SATURDAY, MARCH 18 CALL ME MAYBE CONCERT SEABROOK AUDITORIUM 10 a.m. This is a celebration of African-American Authors and Literary Works. BlackLIT is an intentional effort to motivate, reaffirm, and empower our culture by making literacy relatable, relevant, and acces- sible to communities of color. BlackLIT showcases the published literary works of talented African-American authors throughout North Carolina, as well as publications with content that is of general interest to African-American read- ers. Attaining power through knowledge, BlackLIT not only strives to keep a love for literacy present in communities of color, it also serves as a developmental resource for emerging and established African-American authors who aspire to take their literary works to the next level. For more information, visit https://www. wearethearts.com/blacklit. 4 p.m. You will be learning the basics of canoe- ing and then trying out our new skills by maneuvering through the Cypress swamp. This is a slow and calm canoeing experience and great for beginners or if you want to get a closer look at the Cypress trees. This event is by reservations only. You can call the park office to sign-up. That number is (910) 436-4681. The limit is 10 visitors. Please allow approximately 15 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the Rain Shelter. Age limit is 8 years old and older. STORYTELLING FESTIVAL SPRING LAKE BRANCH LIBRARY 4 p.m. Prepare to be amazed, dazzled & bewil- dered by an exciting storytelling show with Yasu Ishida! It incorporates Japanese folktales with origami and magic tricks. Sto- ries will come together in visual ways, and filled with lots of fun! This is part of the 14th Annual Storytelling Festival hosted by the Cumberland County Public Library. The theme for this year's festival is "Rhythm of a Story." TUESDAY, MARCH 21 THURSDAY, MARCH 16 LEARN TO MAKE RAVIOLI GUSTO NAPOLETANO 3 p.m. Have fun making ravioli like an Italian! Learn to make ravioli from scratch by rolling your own dough, spooning the filling onto the dough, and sealing each ravioli. Partici- pants will be provided with pasta dough, rolling pin, and filling. Each participant will roll out the dough, place the filling on the bottom dough, cover the filling with the top dough, seal the ravioli, and cook them. Wine can be purchased by the glass or bottle to enjoy during class. The instructor does ask that you restrain your hair, and do not wear jewelry during class. Class is limited to 8 participants. Each participa- ting business listed will have free swag/ goodies while supplies last. Here is the list of participating locations: Blue Moon Cafe, Winterbloom, Gaston Brewing Company, Charlie's Pub, Bruce's Sportsblock and lounge, and Bright Light Brewing Company. Gaston Brewing Company is offering $5 Irish Beer, Irish-themed menu features, live music and a live DJ. Bright Light Brewing Company is offering $5 Green Beer, Live Music, R Burger Food Truck, International Cravings Food Truck, and a Photo Booth. BLACKLIT BOOK FAIR VOLTA SPACE 7:30 p.m. Explore the beauty and heartache of one of classical music's most famous unre- quited love stories through the music of Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms. Selected pieces include Felix Mendelssohn's Overture from A Midsummer Night's Dream, Clara Schumann's Piano Concerto, performed by our Principal Pianist, Scott Marosek, and Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 2. SATURDAY, MARCH 18 FRIDAY, MARCH 17 ARBOR DAY BILL CRISP SENIOR CENTER 1:30 p.m. Arbor Day plantings and ceremonies are held worldwide to celebrate trees, and the many benefits that they provide. Come hear how Fayetteville has adopted commitments to be designated a Tree City USA, and celebrate with the city another year of meeting the requirements. Children are invited to help plant the tree and then go across the street to Lake Rim Park for a tree-themed scavenger hunt, while adults have the option to see the historic tar kilns at Lake Rim.
