SATURDAY, MARCH 11 CELEBRATING WOMEN VOLTA SPACE 9 a.m. More and more homeowners are looking for practical ways to produce their own food in their landscapes. Join NC State Small Fruit Extension Specialist Dr. David Cline and Consumer Horticulture Extension agent, Allen West, as they explain how you can successfully grow a variety of fruit trees, shrubs and vines at your home. This is geared towards North Carolina Homesteaders or those just interested in learning how to grow sustainable fruits on small acreage. Participants will leave with lots of practical information, starter plants, publications and door prizes. A light breakfast will be provided. They will have Dee Parris of Pure Romance to help everyone learn about "self care." They will have journal- ing, yoga and sound bowl healing done by Ki and Kiki, massages by Catch These Hands, food, fun and more. Each participant will receive a swag bag, but for the first three individuals that register, they will receive an extra special gift with regis- tration! Join Throckmorton Library as they read fun dog-themed books, sing songs, play with puppies and eat pie. They will be having a pet toys, food, and supplies drive. Items can be donated and dropped off at the library between March 1 through March 14. Donations will be distributed to local shelters. Registration is not required. This event is open to the public. Call 910-396-2665 for more information. TUESDAY, MARCH 14 THURSDAY, MARCH 9 INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL J.W. SEABROOK AUDITORIUM 11 a.m. The Fayetteville State University Music Faculty opens the FSU International Music Festival with a concert that includes pieces for piano, guitar, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, violin, voice and percussion. FSU will be welcoming students from the Cumberland County Schools. This event will be kicking of the first annual FSU International Music Festival, which will take place on from March 9 through March 12. This weekend-long event will feature concerts, a series of talks, master classes, and lectures. The festival will feature several genres of music to include classical, jazz, and folkloric groups. 7 p.m. SUNDAY, MARCH 12 FRIDAY, MARCH 10 BLACK ARTIST FORUM ARTS COUNCIL OF FAYETTEVILLE 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. The Black Artist Forum is a three-hour workshop, networking event, and Q&A panel with some of the most success- ful local black artists and art organizations. The BAF will give you access to career-changing connections and high-quality information for expanding and growing your art business. While the event is free, registration is needed. These beautiful, delicate, and often short-lived blooms are known as spring ephemerals (mea- ning their blooming periods and life cycles are brief). Take a guided walk throu- gh the woods as you search for these seasonal species. This event is free, however registration is required. This event is open for all ages.
