THE THETA UPDATE 2 10.75" Kathy "Mama Kathy" Pickett (Facility Director) Mama Kathy graduated from high school in Trenton, Missouri. She then lived in Princeton, Missouri, where she raised two children. After working for a dentist/orthodontist for 30 years, Kathy was ready for a career change. She served as the facility director for Pi Beta Phi (2008-13) and Phi Kappa Theta (2013-16) before coming to Kappa Alpha Theta where she "finally found the House of every House Mom's dream!" Jeff Eller (Maintenance) Jeff is the maintenance (and all-around handy) man at Kappa Alpha Theta. Since 2017, he has worked closely with Mama Kathy to make sure the house stays in good working order. Despite a full-time job with the City of Ashland, Missouri, as well as being a husband and father to three young children, Jeff is always ready to lend a hand. Denise Dodson (Housekeeping) Denise started working part time at Kappa Alpha Theta in 2001 before going full time in 2004. She is from Williamsburg, Missouri, and she and her husband have two children and three grandchildren. In addition to her job, Denise enjoys gardening and shopping. She truly is a cleaning fairy—one minute, a room is a mess; the next, it is sparking clean! Denise is loved by every housemother and member who has lived at 603 Kentucky over the past 20-plus years. Sandee Bales (Housekeeping) Sandee works part time on the weekend, spiffing up the house and getting it ready for the week ahead. She is a retired elementary school teacher and lives with her husband near Sturgeon, Missouri. She has three children and five grandchildren. Another great asset for KAT! Beth Thompson (Executive Chef) Chef Beth joined us in January 2022, and since that time, she has consistently brought her passion for food to our residents through fresh, healthy, and delicious meals. She is a graduate of the University and has over 20 years of culinary experience. Originally from Mountain View, Missouri, she credits her strong work ethic to her upbringing on her family's dairy farm. In her free time, Chef Beth enjoys volunteering and paddling the Ozark rivers. Terry Murphy (Cook) Terry has been with KAT for nine years, working afternoons and evenings in the kitchen after his stint in the mornings with the University's sanitation department. From opening difficult jars to doing drive-by welfare checks, Terry has gained the reputation of the "man of the house." Yet another asset to our family of staff. Evans Scholars (Kitchen) Our good fortune continues with an amazing ES kitchen staff. These students work different days and shifts in the kitchen in exchange for meals and a stipend. They are a great bunch, and we couldn't be happier with them! Always There for Alpha Mu THANK YOU FOR HELPING THE HOUSE!
