All members gather to eat dinner and chat about past events, as well as future ones, of Alpha Chi Omega. Lyre Letter 2 T his year has been all about philanthropy for Alpha Beta! We have given back to our community through internal events like Alpha Chi Yoga and our AXO/Sigma Nu car wash, which are great ways for our women to get involved on campus to raise money for a good cause. Additionally, our women participated in external events, including the ΣΑΕ volleyball tournament. Members who participated this year are Aislinn Davis '21, Caelyn Cohut '21, Leanne Diciaula '21, Jacklyn Hooper '20, Alex Elmhurst '20, Lauren Lindamood '20 and Pike Dream Girl Isabel Davis '21. Sisters can be found participating in various organizations and activities around campus, and Meredith Card '20 and Hayley Gates '21 are proud to be involved in Purdue's 25th annual Black Tie Dinner, an event put on entirely by students. In October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we hosted a new philanthropy event, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. During the event, Alpha Beta women coached teams of four fraternity men as they ran a relay race in heels. The event was successful, not to mention a blast, and we raised $1,123 for Walk a Mile. To further raise awareness for domestic violence, we hosted Mr. Alpha Chi, in which men competed in sheet-sign making and showcased their talent, among other contests. The winner will be featured on our composite. In other news, recruitment went extremely well this year, and we were very impressed with our retention rate and the selection of new members. As the fall nears its end, we are proud of all we have accomplished so far, and we can't wait for what the rest of the year will bring. The chapter's newest members were initiated on November 2. An Alpha Beta alumna attended to pin her daughter and shared that it was just as she remembered! Our ritual is a cherished tradition and an integral part of our member experience. Supporting Our Community ALPHA CHI FOCUSES ON GIVING BACK THIS FALL W ith a new year comes a time to reflect on our achievements and find new ways to improve so that we can continue to strengthen our chapter and its members as well as our involvement in the community. Three goals we are striving toward this year are: Achieve academic goals individually within the member classes. Create more bonding opportunities for sisters through internally planned events. Be more involved with the YWCA now that we can volunteer more with lightened COVID-19 restrictions.
