Eleven Eleven Report Gamma Tau Chapter of Delta Tau Delta university of kansas n Fall 2022 H ello, Brothers! The active Brothers and house corporation members have been busy, so let's get to it in this issue of the Eleven Eleven Report. Anyone notice the Kansas football team this fall? Yeah, us too. We've had some winning football games, the team's first-ever College GameDay, and some fantastic alumni tailgates at the Shelter (including perfect weather)! As good as the Shelter still looks, there are improvements in the works, including the replacement of part of the back patio, repairing the ΔTΔ sign at the entrance of the parking lot, and continuing to replace closets in the rooms. If you make it to the Shelter, please take note of all these updates. Separately, we've started work on Alumni Weekend for next spring. The golf courses in Lawrence are not allowing weekend golf events, so we are exploring our options. We hope to nail down and communicate a date in the coming weeks. As a follow-up from the 2022 Alumni Weekend, your donations allowed us to fund $3,000 in freshmen scholarships, ranging from $250 to $1,000. This group of freshmen/ incoming pledges is not eligible to apply for the current Hibbs Scholarship (sophomores and juniors only), so we made our own to support freshmen as they transition to a more independent lifestyle at college. This is a full- year cumulative GPA program, and candidates must be in good standing with the Shelter (initiated and no outstanding fines/fees); awards will be presented next summer. We are working to expand and enhance our overall scholarship program—more to come on this! As we mentioned in the last issue, we are working to help alumni and active Brothers connect. One program we've rolled out is a career discussion series in which alumni from a specified field discuss opportunities, answer questions, and offer guidance. The first event included a four-week program where participants met weekly and worked to successfully find internships and postgraduate career placements. Two speakers joined one of the sessions and focused on the recruiting process, résumé development, and what they look for in a qualified candidate. Both were tremendous speakers and gave the men an inside look at the recruiting process. If you are interested in participating, please provide your contact information and career field using the emails below. However, Bryson Brown '15 challenged himself to stay connected to the brotherhood, even from North Carolina. After graduating, Bryson took on the role of lead advisor for the East Carolina University colony, now Kappa Iota Chapter. This is the fastest charter that has won distinguished national awards, and Bryson won Chapter Advisor of the Year after his first year. The experience of giving back and helping grow a new group of Delts has been very rewarding. Bryson's Advice: "Stay connected. Fraternity does not end when you graduate, and there are so many networking opportunities that you can take advantage of as you grow your career."
