Over one hundred people came out to the Hi Jolly Cemetery then to take part in a special ceremony. The Quartzsite Historical Society and the Hi Jolly Cem- etery Board had worked really hard to have the Hi Jolly Monument des- ignated as a Historical Place on the National Registry of Historic Places for a long time. Hadji Ali, better known as "Hi Jolly", was born in Izmir, Turkey to a Christian Syrian father and Greek mother sometime in 1828. This action should make a not good energy outlook look really bad. $5.00 - $6.00 a gallon gas , at least. Meanwhile, our friends plant thou- sands of acres in the Arizona west- ern desert with alfalfa hay, shining bright green in the desert tan. They have umpteen large, deep wells pumping millions of gallons for the alfalfa. And, the best part – no payment at all for the unmetered water. Oh, yeah.. they drained their aquifer in Saudi Arabia in pretty much one generation. Hay production was outlawed and had to go looking for a site. Kinda seems reasonable that they should be paying for the water used in Ari- zona – perhaps $100 a barrel? James S. Webb, Salome, AZ 85348
