Lee was born in Gunnison, CO on August 7, 1935 to Maura and Rol- lie Lehman. Most of his early life was spent in Forest Grove, Or- egon, where he was an ardent Boy Scouter. Lee fi nished high school in LaVeta, CO. He graduated Junior College in Trinidad, CO where he became a gunsmith. He joined the Army and served in Seoul. South Korea near the end of the Korean War. He continued his education at Colorado University in Boulder, CO, where he studied a foreign language and that county's foreign politics. He would then jump on his bicycle and visit that country. He toured and worked his way across country after country only coming back to study other languages. He joined the Peace Corps in order to go to Africa, where he worked and traveled for many years. When he fi nally decided to settle down, he moved to Quartzsite, AZ, where his parents had been winter- ing for several years. Lee was so used to the climate of Central America, South America and Africa, he just couldn't handle the cold Colorado winters anymore, so he became a "year-rounder" in the Arizona desert county. He started a one-man news- paper called the Quartzsite Crystal. He was the most giving, kind, edu- cated man you would ever meet. He will be missed by his sisters Marda Doan of Colorado Springs, CO; Lynn Hoppes of Pueblo, CO and his nephews Adam and Steven Doan, both of Colorado Springs, CO. There will be a graveside service at the Hi Jolly Cemetery in Quartzsite, AZ on December 28, 2022 at 10:00 am. If you would like to make a dona- tion, please make it to American Le- gion Post 113, Youth Marksmanship Training, or Quartzsite District 4. STEPHEN OWEN REPPERT Stephen Owen Reppert was born on July 3, 1949 to Charles and Sara (Owen) Reppert in Ft. Wayne, Indi- ana. He was the oldest of 6 children. He was an avid camper and after re- tiring from a career in the construc- tion industry, he decided that his next adventure would be a full-time self-proclaimed "drifter". He enjoyed the next 16 years tent camping around the country. Steve spent winters camping in Quartzsite, Arizona, and the rest of the year camping in Utah with his brother, visiting his son in Wiscon- sin while camping at his favorite local campgrounds of Token Creek and Lake Kegonsa State Park, and spending time in Denver with his siblings. He spent his mornings gazing at sunrises and feeding his birds, afternoons taking pictures of nature's beauty, and his sunsets sit- ting around a campfi re enjoying the fresh air. Steve's favorite days were spent with family relaxing by the fi re, fi shing or spending time at one of their homes enjoying each other's company and sharing stories. He loved to laugh and his laugh was a loud contagious bellow that would make everyone around him smile. Steve's religion was important to him, and he would spend much of his alone time in prayer and ex- pressing his gratitude for his for- tunate life. He had a very generous heart, ready to give to anyone in need. He was proceeded in death by his mother, father, and youngest brother Glen. He is survived by his son Uriah (Cathy) Reppert, sisters Sue Rep- pert and Nancy (Wally) Cox, broth- ers Tom and Jim Reppert, and his niece Gwen (Matt) Taylor and their child Brooks. He is further survived by his two grandchildren Mia and Jayce Reppert who will miss their Gramps's stories of Ticklebirds, Sas- quatch, and other tales that would make them laugh hysterically OWANA FLEMING CELEBRATION OF LIFE Please join us on November 20th at 2:00 pm at the Quartzsite Alli- ance Church for the Celebration of Life for Owana Fleming, part of the "Little Sisters" singing group.
