They will go on to play in the quarter fi nals against Williams on Friday the 28th. A win at Wil- liams will put them two games away from being State Champions! When we asked Coach McCarty about the game plan for the rest of the season, he said, "We need to be able to execute offensively and make sure we know our defensive assignments, then execute at a high level." When we asked him what some of the high- lights of the season were, he said, "Rushing for 3,000 yards as a team, seeing Geo come back from a neck injury with 3 sacks in the Mo- jave game, and everybody working hard." Coach McCarty emphasized he is most looking forward to the challenge of trying to get it done against the elite teams in the state playoffs. On Tuesday, October 18th, we had our Pink Game against North Phoenix Prep. With it being Senior night, we recognized our seniors and their accomplishments. When asked about the event, Coach Soto said, "Pink Night is important be- cause it brings the community together for a great cause. The awareness that Pink Night pro- vides for breast cancer is crucial for everyone who is affected. I am a cancer survivor myself, so nights like these are very important to me. I am very proud of the unity and contribution these events provide to our community." The event raised more than $950 for breast can- cer prevention and detection in our community. The Lady Frogs are wrapping up their season strong as well, a win against Bagdad on the 25th will put them in contention for Regionals! This Halloween, Mon- day October 31st, Sa- lome High School held its yearly Trunk or Treat! Lots of people from the community come to the school and set up their cars to give out can- dy to the children. On top of that, many classes and clubs are doing games and activities for the kids in the community. The Juniors are taking responsibility for the haunt- ed house, the Sophomores will run a cakewalk, and much more! Year- book is hosting a costume contest earlier in the day for the high school students, with prizes included. On November 18th and 19th, the annual Letterman's Basketball Tournament will be held at Salome High School. There are expected to be over eight middle school teams. Concessions will be sold by the Let- terman's Club members. All pro- ceeds from the tournament and con- cessions go to help the Letterman's Club improve sports facilities at the school. Brackets are yet to come. "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." ~ John F. Kennedy
