SIGMA NEWS GAMMA PHI BETA AT THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS • FALL 2022 2022 AHC members with Be y at her re rement recep on. Former and current Board members gather to honor Be y Hailey Crooker '57! T he Affiliated House Corpora on of Gamma Phi Beta held its 2022 annual mee ng on September 11, the same day it hosted a re rement recep on for former AHC President Be y Hailey Crooker '57. Nearly 40 Gamma Phis, friends, and family gathered to celebrate Be y and thank her for 40 years of dedicated service to Sigma Chapter, and everyone had a wonderful me. At the recep on, Be y was surprised to learn the AHC had made a $5,000 contribu on to the Sally Ramseyer Beck Gamma Phi Beta Scholarship Fund in her honor as well as installed a plaque in the Blue Room of the chapter house, dedica ng it to her. The board was also delighted to announce that it made addi onal $1,000 scholarship fund contribu ons in honor of the AHC board members who recently ended their terms. Each re ring board member also received a commemora ve crescent moon mirror. We are sincerely grateful to these women for their loyalty and dedica on to Sigma across many years. • Pam Henderson Adams '70 joined in 2002. Her du es focused on refreshing the facility and food contracts. • Barbara Mann Hill '66 joined in 1980. She served as treasurer and property manager. • Mary Schaechtele Lake '65 served from 1979-81 and then rejoined in 1998 as secretary. • Sheri Sigman Coffin '76 joined in 2006 and oversaw the finance commi ee and contracts. • Alison Digges Staniforth '75 joined in 2010 and served as vice president. We are looking forward to a great semester at Sigma, and we welcome you to stop by the chapter house any me you are in Lawrence. We purchased and installed vinyl flooring in the second and third floor hallways and in all the second floor rooms. Installa on in the third floor rooms will take place in the summer of 2023. In addi on, we recarpeted the front stairs from the second to third floor, replastered and painted walls, replaced a water line in the front bathroom, sealed the house, cleaned air ducts, installed new exterior ligh ng, removed old shelving from the rooms upstairs, and bought new furniture for the bedrooms (eight chairs, 12 sofas/ futons, five loveseats, 20 desks, and 20 desk chairs).
