National Pharmacy Week is observed during the third full week of October and recognizes the invaluable contributions pharma- cists and technicians make to pa- tient care. This year, it takes place from October 17 to 23. Pharmacists provide an essential service by con- necting the needs of patients to the pharmaceutical industry. Drop in to Quartzsite's own Happy Valley Pharmacy and say thank you to the all the amazing staff! Pharmacy Week Having become a recent widow this year, Maggie Ross felt a real need to begin a new group of like sisters. She said, "There are dating groups, social groups, Hospice and church groups out there but none really ad- dress the need for connection with other women who have or are going through this stage of life." Sunfl ower Sisters has been started and it is hoped that it will grow and fl ourish starting this fall. Our fi rst event was held October 15th at 12 noon in the social hall at Covenant Lutheran Church. It was a free meet and greet luncheon and opportuni- ty for ladies to learn what we are all about. Ross states, "We have planned a great season of craft classes, fun outings and events to lift your spir- its and to form new friendships. Gunny's Military Museum has re- opened. The private Museum is located at 735 West Ocotillo Lane, Quartzsite. Hours are Tuesday thru Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm. The museum has 30 fully dressed mannequins in United States Ma- rine Corps uniform. Several are named and brief histories are post- ed. Along with the uniforms there are many USMC items on display. The uniforms are from 1904 to present. There is a special display to Honor the Navjo Code Talkers this season. Be sure to check it out! Also there will be a cake cutting ceremony on November 10th to celebrate our 247th Birthday. For more details contact Gunny at 256-426-7927. DoorDash is seeking local busi- nesses to sign up to participate in DoorDash in Quartzsite. There are a couple of Dashers (drivers) already in town. Only two businesses have signed up so far: Dollar General and Carl's Jr. So if you are a restaurant, small business, large retailer, or even a vendor coming to town who would like to increase customers, check it out. To learn more visit www.DoorDash.com DoorDash comes to Quartzsite Military Museum re-opens New Widow group forms During their regular meeting of September 27th, Quartzsite Com- mon Council approved the Town of Quartzsite and staff, go to a four-day work week immediately, permanent- ly. The motion passed with a vote of 6-0 (one member was absent). Council had originally approved the four-day work week in March only for the summer and to be re- visited in the fall. The Town of Quartzsite Town Hall is Open Monday through Thursday, 7am - 6pm .
