Once a Seahawk ... A PUBLICATION FOR ALUMNI, PARENTS, AND FRIENDS OF BISHOP SEABURY ACADEMY 2022 FALL W e have a large new crop of promising sixth graders, new students in other grades, and a few new faculty faces this fall. Morning meetings have been exuberant and full of laugher from day one, and I am always amazed to see our young students come back to us so much taller! Every fall, I watch with considerable admiration as our athletes begin their season. After weeks of intensive practices—many of which happen in the grueling afternoon conditions of Kansas—all of our athletes head into competition. Our student actors began their work at auditions early this fall, and competitions in debate and chess are on the horizon. The fact that students can achieve success in these pursuits while also tackling a rigorous academic program is impressive and speaks to the ambition, determination, and work ethic of these young people. As you'll see from the photos in this newsletter, our varsity soccer players played their first-ever home game on our new Seabury Family Soccer Field. The "Family" piece of that name reflects the dedication and support of parents in our community to fund the endeavor. The field will be a source of great pride for our players, students, and community, and we appreciate the investment of all who helped make it happen! I trust this newsletter will find our alumni, friends, and families prospering in this new year! Yours respectfully, Dr. Don Schawang Head of School A FRESH START We are off to a great new school year! Vivian Hill and Bella Ogborn raise our school's flag. The Bishop Seabury family showed up in full force for our first home soccer match.
