page 2 Delta Love Tri Delta was the first house Clare Marie Kuebler '18 looked for every morning of recruitment, and each day, she left the house with the biggest smile on her face, embracing the members' enthusiasm and passion for the sisterhood. "I remember sitting in the Tri Delta house on Preference Day, looking around the house, and thinking, 'This could be my house tomorrow,'" she shared. "That moment brought so much peace knowing that this is exactly where I was supposed to be." Clare Marie lived in the Chapter House for two years, and during that time, the sisterhood grew stronger and her love for the house grew deeper. The most meaningful aspect of her time at Delta Xi, however, was the year and a half she served as director of philanthropy and worked with St. Jude, an experience that changed her perspective on service and its value to Greek life. Proud to be a Mizzou Golden Girl all four years of college, Clare Marie learned a great deal from her experience. She remembers the moments that were like no other, from early mornings getting ready with her team to being on the sidelines when the Tigers scored a touchdown. Avoiding a Missed Opportunity Clare Marie was approached at her job the summer before her senior year and was asked if she wanted to compete in a local pageant. She was hesitant, as she had never done anything like this and wanted to focus on her student teaching, dance team, and part-time job; when the due date rolled around, she submitted her paperwork in fear of a missed opportunity. She won Miss Spirit of St. Louis and, nine months later, was crowned Miss Missouri in June 2022. While those nine months were overwhelming, they were also rewarding, and she found that the Miss America Organization encapsulates her interests and passions. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in elementary education, Clare Marie is excited to use her $14,000 Miss Missouri scholarship to earn her master's degree in education. Philanthropy as Miss Missouri Service is a large component of Miss America, and each candidate supports a cause. Clare Marie chose to support pediatric cancer due to her involvement with Tri Delta. "I will spend my year of service as Miss Missouri advocating for the patients and families going through those challenging times while providing experiences to bring them joy during their long, hard days," she shared. "The leadership skills I learned while being a member of Tri Delta will certainly help me on my journey." No One Can Do It Alone While Clare Marie was challenged in many aspects, her parents were there for her every step of the way. "They have always supported all my endeavors and have been my constant source of encouragement during the entire process," she said. Her hard work paid off when she received the Rookie Onstage Social Impact Pitch and Onstage Question Award, Rookie Talent Award, Overall Talent Award, Dancing Queen Award, and her scholarship. She will be off to compete for Miss America in December. Fraternity in the Family Clare Marie's parents and two older brothers were in Greek life at Mizzou; her grandmother was a Tri Delta at the University of Iowa and shared the same passion for St. Jude and education. "Mimi is one of my role models because she always said, 'Be as beautiful on the inside as you are on the out,'" Clare Marie shared. "Not only did she have a great sense of style (leopard print and rhinestones), but she truly had the brightest smile and the biggest heart." When she's not busy with Miss America, Clare Marie enjoys going on long outdoor walks, dancing, working out with her friends, enjoying slow mornings with coffee, and calling her mom.
