No one exemplifies these principles more than Kim Lewis Yates '90, who served as president of Delta Xi from 1992- 93. Kim passed away in April 2021 following complications from a stroke. She was 49. In April 2022, members of Delta Xi's pledge classes from the late '80s through the mid- '90s gathered in Columbia to honor Kim's memory and legacy. The women traveled from California, Tennessee, and across Missouri to reunite and remember their friend and sister. These alumnae dedicated a room in the Chapter House in Kim's memory. The room named for Kim is a TV lounge on the first-floor wing and is one of the chapter members' favorite places to relax and study.. Kim's daughter, Megan, attended the ceremony and spoke eloquently about her mom and the impact that Tri Delta had on her mother's life. She said she was honored to be in the house where her mom lived and to meet her friends. Kim was a natural leader and, following her leadership roles at MU, she went on to serve in high-level positions in marketing for Proctor and Gamble, Lee Jeans, and Russell Stover. She was inducted into the Park Hill School District Hall of Fame in January 2022 and is remembered for her influence as class president as a high school senior. Kim's husband, Chris, recently moved their twins to their respective colleges. Zachary is a freshman at Mizzou and is pledging Beta. Megan recently pledged Chi O at TCU. If you would like to donate to the A Fresh Look for 901 capital campaign in Kim's memory, please visit tinyurl.com/DDDMUHouseCorpPledgeForm. Alumnae gather in the room dedicated in Kim's memory. I went to San Diego for LEADDD and the 60th Tri Delta Biennial Convention this past June. While there, I was able to network with alumnae and executive office members and listen to keynote speakers talk about leadership and professional development. Additionally, I served as our Delta Xi voting delegate representative and voted on the national bylaws for the next two years for the fraternity! I learned beneficial leadership skills that I can't wait to bring back to the chapter to help lead some amazing women.
