CEED, WBCFay and the Army Community Service Employment Readiness Program are bringing the MilSpo Career Expo — an event designed to break some of the barriers that military spouses face when searching for job opportunities and allows participating businesses to fill their job vacancies. Guest speaker Torette Williams, who is a military spouse, will be presenting "Branding." LinkedIn training, resume reviews, and a headshot photographer will be available. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 OTHEL-LIT! THE CHURCH ENTERTAINMENT LOUNGE AT PADDY'S 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Come out and join the Rolling Thunder Chapter for their 13th Annual "We Ride For Those Who Can't" Remembrance Ride and POW/MIA Recognition Day Ceremony. There are over 81,000 Ameri- can service men and women who are listed as Missing in Action from previous wars. This ride serves to remember them, the service and sacrifice they gave to our nation, and remember their families who, in most cases, do not have closure as to what happened to their loved ones. The ceremony starts at 10 a.m. and the ride starts at 11 a.m. MICHAEL STANG AUTHOR EVENT CITY CENTER GALLERY & BOOKS 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Author Michael Stang will be hosting a meet and greet at City Center Gallery & Books. His book, "The Monster of Gun- powder River and other Fabrications" tells the tales of normal people in ordinary places and times confronted with things decidedly not normal or ordinary. In his book of seven fictional short stories, the author takes the reader on a trip span- ning over a hundred years without leaving an area of a few dozen square miles. His book will be available as part of a book signing. TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY SMITH LAKE RECREATION AREA 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. USO North Carolina is calling all pirates to join in on their hunt for treasure and fun. Children are invited to come to this cool pirate themed creation, have a snack and meet their fellow pirate friends A snack and themed "wearable" activity will be pro- vided, but any who attend are invited to look their piratey best. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 DISTINGUISHED SPEAKER SERIES AIRBORNE & SPECIAL OPERATIONS MUSEUM 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. In honor of National POW MIA Recognition Day, the ASOM will host USAF Col. (Ret.) Quincy Collins who was held as a Prisoner of War for 7 ½ years by the North Vietnamese. Col. Collins will discuss his experience as documented in his memoir, "Out of the Blue." The cost for the general public is $15. For active duty military members, it is $10. Col. Collins will also be signing his book after the lecture. Books can be bought on-site. KC and The Sunshine Band has celebrated over 40 years of making booties shake. They gave a voice to a generation, helped define an entire culture, and conti - nue to make an impact today. WE RIDE FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T FORT BRAGG HARLEY-DAVIDSON 6:45 p.m. Sweet Tea Shakespeare is excited to bring its hit drunk Shakespeare production, OTHEL-LIT, on tour throughout the North Carolina Sandhills. This one-of-a-kind performance series takes clas- sic works of literature and puts a unique twist on them by performing them with plenty of adult beverages in hand and plenty of audience interaction. OTHEL-LIT is based on William Shakespeare's tragedy "Othello." The play tells the story of the great general Othello, who is manipulated by his evil lieutenant Iago into believing that his wife Desdemona has been unfaithful. The result is a tragic tale of jealousy, betrayal and revenge.
