Alexis Grubbs | Dallas, Texas Our Chapter adviser and I traveled to Phoenix, Arizona, in July to meet with our sisters for the Biennial National Phi Mu Convention. One of the most interesting sessions discussed Phi Mu's initiative to digitize our Chapter archives. Composites and other historical documents are being uploaded to Phi Mu's digital library in the hopes that future generations will have access to them, no matter the circumstances. I hope to work alongside our historian, Anna Skidmore '20, this year to ensure Alpha Delta is represented in the archives. Alpha Delta was recognized at the convention for our outstanding academic programming initiatives and our 100% M3 campaign reporting. A special thank-you goes out to our academic excellence chairman, Tara Davis '20, for the academic programming report. Although our philanthropic efforts are already something to be proud of, we are seeking to be even more involved and intentional in our efforts this year. With lifted COVID-19 restrictions, we seek to visit Le Bonheur again this year. The trip to Memphis always allows new members to connect with our philanthropy in a way that nothing else can rival. We look forward to another exciting semester that will allow our sisterhood to grow together! Love in Our Bonds, Hailey Layne '19 | Chapter President Phi Mu Fraternity at Ole Miss 3 Q: How many sororities are at Ole Miss today? There are 10 National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sororities on campus: Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Phi Mu, and Pi Beta Phi. Alpha Chi Omega will be establishing this fall as the 11th chapter on campus. Q: How many PNMs went through fall 2022 formal recruitment? There were 2,000 potential new members (PNMs) registered for formal recruitment—a record! This staggering number proves the value students see in joining Greek life at Ole Miss. It also means NPC sororities on campus will continue to have 400-plus members in their chapters. Q: For future recruitments, how can I submit an online or mailed recommendation form? In summer 2021, Phi Mu's National Council unanimously voted to remove the preferential treatment of legacies and the requirement of an alumna reference/recommendation for PNMs. Moving forward, a Phi Mu legacy will be extended the same courtesy that is given to all PNMs; however, Phi Mu continues to define a legacy as a sister, half-sister, stepsister, daughter, stepdaughter, granddaughter or great-granddaughter of a Phi Mu in good standing with the fraternity. Q: With the change in the legacy policy and elimination of recommendation letters, how can I be involved with Alpha Delta? Starting with fall 2022 recruitment, we are encouraging alumnae to submit a personal knowledge information email to our recruitment team at alphadelta.membership@gmail.com. We are also welcoming alumnae to come visit our updated and beautiful home! See the save the date section of this newsletter for details on alumnae events the Chapter is hosting this fall. If you haven't already, join your alumnae sisters and stay connected through our Facebook group at Phi Mu-Alpha Delta All Alumnae. Alpha Delta is committed to continuing and enhancing our engagement efforts with alumnae. We welcome your feedback! Q: Why are we taking so many new members from out of state? In the last decade, fewer than 38% of the PNMs going through recruitment at Ole Miss were from the state of Mississippi. Therefore, our Bid Day list should reflect in-state and out-of-state ratios. In addition, Ole Miss is a nationwide destination school with solid alumnae support from out of state. Each year, many of our new out-of- state members have connections to Ole Miss and Alpha Delta through alumnae family members. Q: How are new members voted on to receive an invitation to the parties and a bid? All Alpha Delta confidential voting is electronic via cellphone through specific recruitment apps used by all chapters. After each in-person party round (Philanthropy, Sisterhood, Preference, and Bid Day), invitation lists are created based on personal conversations and votes. Q: How do I contact the Chapter? For any Chapter-specific questions or information, please email our Chapter adviser, Bailey Brewer Lincoln '13, at bblincoln@oxfordsd.org.
