THE NUMBERS Chairs burst into the limelight last
season as a sophomore by rushing for 299 yards and 5
touchdowns in a wild 42-38 win against Gravette that
helped fuel the Elks to an 8-3 season and advance to the
second round of the 4A state playoffs. … Chairs, who is a
Select 50 National Player of the Year candidate, finished the
season with 1,529 yards rushing and 29 touchdowns for the
No. 3 seed team in the 4A-1 Conference. … Chairs also had 5
touchdowns against Greenland last season. … This season he
has added 20 pounds in the weight room without the loss of
any speed.
THAT'S WHAT HE SAID "This year, because of the
weight and strength I have added, I won't have to run around
people. I can run through people this year. I've stayed in the
gym and ate as much as I could to put on the weight. Lots
of protein … eggs, chicken … all of that. My goal for me
is to have a better season than I did last year. I just want to
bring a lot of energy. For my team, that goal is to win a state
championship."
