First we have to get a feel of what their inspiration is; we can look at pictures and take diff erent elements of each. Look at what stone you want - the size, shape, and color - this all impacts the type of metal we want to use based on how it will cast on the stone. en we get to my favorite part. e "what if " ideas. We get into the feasibility of these ideas but it really puts your personality into your custom piece, making it truly unique and yours. Speaking of unique, what is the most unique gem you've ever worked with? at's a really diffi cult question, because there are so many amazing gems out there. I got to work with this really beautiful Montana bicolor sapphire for an engagement ring that was gorgeous. I've seen some really amazing gems that I'd love to have the opportunity to work with. I saw a seafoam green paraiba tourmaline from Mozambique at a trade show. I'd also love to work with padparadscha sapphires, they come from Sri Lanka or Madagascar and look like the lotus fl ower they are named after. What is your favorite gem to work with? Diamonds, no doubt. ey are so versatile; you can pair them with any metal and create almost any cut. ey allow you to be creative in a way other gems can't because you don't have to worry about color castings from the metal on the stone. Diamonds are classic and timeless. What is the best way to care for precious metal jewelry? What are some of the do's and don'ts? Don't wear it in the pool or the ocean. It's tempting to leave your jewelry on all the time, but the chlorine and salt water will eat away at the precious metal creating what is called porosity. is means that your jewelry will start to get microscopic holes in the metal making it brittle, making it susceptible to shattering, much like a candy cane. Do make sure that you get your jewelry cleaned and inspected every 3 to 6 months for prong strength and stone security. We don't charge for cleanings and we stand behind everything we do. @Refl ections_In_Gold Meet your local Jeweler Venice Gondolier Sun | July 30, 2022 Meet Your Local Pro 15
