It will be Northwest Arkansas' very own Rackensak. The band is a unique three- piece collaboration consisting of Vince Turner and James Miller on guitar, bass and vocals and Gravette hometown musician Kevin Carl Bonner, on drums and vocals. The name Rackensak means a native of Arkansas. "We are really looking forward to performing at Gravette Day," guitarist James Miller said. "I know Kevin, in particular, is excited about the gig. I know he is really going to enjoy playing where he grew up. It'll be fun for him to be back home performing at Gravette Day. I know he still has a lot of friends in town." The band performs all styles and genres of music. "We are basically a variety band," James explained. "We play mostly covers but we do have some originals. Most people request us to play the things that they grew up with. Everybody in the band is a vocalist besides being experts on their instruments." James moved to the area in 2015 from the other side of the state. One of the first things he did was go looking for fellow musicians to jam with. "I went to several of the jam sessions in the area," James said. "One of them was a place called the Red Door in Tontitown. I walked in and Vince and Kevin were playing. The three of us became fast friends. We did that jam session for about two years and one day I said 'how about we form a band.' And they said 'we thought you'd never ask!'" Vince works as a professional musician gigging four or five nights a week while James works from home most of the time as a social media analyst. Kevin, originally from Gravette, now works as an attorney and child advocate. Rackensak has a well-earned reputation for their audience-pleasing eclectic song list. You could actually go see them two nights in a row and possibly never hear one repeated song. Their ever- expanding song repertoire goes beyond era and genre. Another unique quality of the band is the fact that there isn't a band leader. They are all on an equal playing field as long-term professional musicians. Rankensak has a knack for keeping things spicy by being unpredictable, switching instruments, and keeping the audience guessing about who's going to sing. Vocals emerge independently and also come forth as amazing three-part harmonies. Don't miss this fun-filled performance at Gravette Day.
