Saturday, August 13, 2022 • 129th AnnuAl grAvette DAy • 3 Citizens and guests of Gravette, G ravette Day is one of my favorite days of the year and I know many of you feel the same way. This year will be the 129th Gravette Day and the event is one of the longest running community celebrations in Arkansas. Gravette Day started as a picnic social where citizens near and far would return to their hometown roots, socialize with friends and family, and reminisce about their favorite memories. Although the event has grown over the years, those original characteristics of Gravette Day still remain. A revitalized Main Street featuring a variety of local businesses will serve as the perfect backdrop for the parade and Gravette Day 5K. Vendor booths, kids rides and games, live music, food trucks, and pageants all take place in Kindley Park, which was updated with new bathrooms, additional sidewalk, and new lighting. The abundance of trees keeps the park shaded from the hot August sun. The art show is back this year and will take place in the Civic Center, which was completely remodeled a few years ago and is now a popular location for birthdays, reunions, and other events. Make sure to walk across the street from the art show and admire the dozens of impressive entries in the car show or take a tour of the Gravette Historical Museum. Don't forget to start your day off right with pancakes at the Kiwanis pancake breakfast or by shopping at the farmer's market. There is truly something for everyone at Gravette Day. The magic of Gravette Day is made possible thanks to the hard work of city staff and the Gravette Day committee and the support of the City Council. If you're visiting, I hope you'll make your way back to Gravette to dine, shop, and explore all that Gravette has to offer and for those that live here, thanks for being part of what makes Gravette the heart of hometown America.
