L ast year, Phi Kappa Theta lost one of its great national leaders. After a battle with cancer, Greg Stein, City College of New York '70 died on June 30, 2021. Greg was recognized as a skilled writer, editor, orator, and historian. He was intentional about being a good brother and making a difference. He was considered a mentor and friend, as well as a brother, by over 350 Iowa Xi collegiates. Greg served Phi Kappa Theta in various ways for almost five decades. Among his many accomplishments, Greg served as president and trustee emeritus of the Phi Kappa Theta Foundation, copy editor of The Temple, national historian, author of the Graduating Senior Ceremony, and the originator of our motto, "Give, expecting nothing thereof." IT'S OUR TURN TO HONOR HIM In recognition of Greg's contributions to the fraternity, Iowa Xi, and brothers everywhere, the Iowa Xi Foundation established a permanent endowment in his name. The purpose will be to award grants annually to collegiate brothers for things that were important to Greg: • Providing tutoring assistance: Lending an academic hand to develop servant leaders. • Offering needs-based scholarships: Lending a financial hand to develop servant leaders. • Recognizing graduating seniors: Celebrating educational success and the transition from collegiate brother to alumnus brother. The goal is to raise $60,000 by December 31, 2022. By achieving the fundraising goal, the Greg Stein Endowment Fund will generate $2,000 to $3,000 each year in grants. As the fund grows, so will the amount of grants each year. Your help is needed in creating the Greg Stein Endowment Fund.
