Fireman e newsletter for alumni and friends of Gamma eta Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha at Mississippi State University The Summer 2022 W ords cannot describe how proud I am to be a Pike—especially as an alumnus of Gamma Theta at Mississippi State. It is my pleasure to be able to write this piece as I look forward to my 20th anniversary of being a part of our wonderful chapter. We celebrated another successful year at PIKE, and this year was incredibly pleasing with all the accomplishments and achievements of the young men. My involvement with the chapter as an undergraduate was standard at best. I made decent grades, paid my dues, and very much enjoyed the social aspect of fraternity life. It wasn't until I graduated and matured a good bit that I realized how special that time of my life truly was. The connections I made with the brothers older and younger than me was incredible. The bonds I made with my pledge brothers are certainly ones I wouldn't have been able to experience if I hadn't made the commitment to Pi Kappa Alpha. I cannot thank God enough for the men that he placed in my life during my time here. From the depths of my heart, I believe that without these relationships we all share, Gamma Theta would not be where it is today. Without the support and participation of each member and alumnus of our chapter, Gamma Theta would not be the chapter that it currently is. However, we are not done. Gamma Theta Chapter is continually moving forward with positive momentum in many areas of chapter and university life. In this edition of The Fireman, you will read about Gamma Theta's incredible achievements this semester as they worked hard academically and philanthropically. You'll also hear from our alumni; behind every strong chapter are a plethora of strong alumni who have paved the way and continue to show their support. GIVING BACK Just as alumni supported you during your time at Mississippi State University, we hope you are able to return the favor to help strengthen the future of Gamma Theta Chapter. Your involvement can be minimal or extensive—any support will greatly benefit the chapter. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved, including: • Alumni Association—help plan events and fundraising opportunities. • House Corporation—provide thoughts for improvements around the house. • Alumni Advisory Board—advise the chapter in areas such as recruitment, education, operations, health, and safety. • Alumni/Chapter Relationship Building— encourage alumni to visit the house more often or sign up to mentor an undergraduate. Of course, you can support the chapter by attending events, such as Homecoming this fall, or referring incoming freshmen who would make excellent Pikes. STAYING CONNECTED You can also help by providing your updated email and mailing addresses (especially if you aren't receiving our event updates) or contact information for lost brothers. We want to ensure that all brothers stay up to date with the chapter and other alumni. As we return to normalcy, we hope to get together more often—so make sure you're in the loop. WEBSITE UPDATES Also, be on the lookout for our updated website this fall. We are excited to provide a more user- friendly website for alumni recommendations and other updates. The website will make staying connected just a click away! Thank you for your support, and we are eager to back the undergraduate chapter as they continue to work hard and represent Gamma Theta proudly.
