10 UCW JUNE 1 - 7, 2022 WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM JUNE 3 BRINGING IT BACK DIRTBAG ALES BREWERY New York City-based artist Jonathon Shannon will show his new exhibition, Bringing It Back, at the Dirtbag Ales lo- cated at 5435 Corporation from June 3 to June 30. This event is free and open to the public. Bringing it Back is in- spired by Shannon's desire to bring his art created in New York City back to his hometown to inspire his friends, family and community to dream big. His work explores the relationship between abstraction, cubism, surreal- ism, impressionism and expressionism. He's developed a concept to see the world through a new lens called Reverse Reality, with influences like Matisse, Van Gogh, Dali, Picasso, Cezanne and De Kooning. There will be an opening reception held on June 3 from 5 to 10 p.m. For additional information, call 910-887-7265. JUNE 3 - JUNE 26 MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING SWEET TEA SHAKESPEARE It's the rom-com that started it all. Beatrice is a fast-talking spinster with no time for men. Benedick is the wise- cracking marriage-hater crashing at her uncle's house with a bunch of rowdy soldiers. But when Benedick's best friend falls in love with Beatrice's cousin, their friends and family hatch a plot to reveal the truth: Benedick and Beatrice are head-over-heels in love. Can these two bickering cynics finally admit what everyone else can see? Brilliantly blending romance and humor, Much Ado About Noth- ing is Shakespearean comedy at its finest. Come early for the live music preshow that starts at 6:45 p.m. For additional information, visit sweet- teashakespeare.com.
