Beta Tau Housing Corporation of Sigma Kappa at the University of Florida • Spring 2022 Beta Tau ConnSKtion The Women Behind Sigma Kappa I n 2020, a volunteer task force was charged with reviewing and changing the national and local volunteer structures. These changes and recommendations were put in effect in January 2022, which transitioned Sigma Kappa to a governance model. The National Council said this about the change: "For volunteers, governance in conjunction with the volunteer realignment creates a flatter structure, allowing for speedier decisions to support our collegiate and alumnae members and chapters." All current and prospective volunteers had to apply (or reapply) for positions, as many changes were made to position descriptions; additionally, more consistent training was offered to help volunteers better support collegians and the sorority. We want to welcome our newest members and thank each and every sister who has given their time and energy toward the sisterhood. Second, as we emerge in a post-COVID world, we want to facilitate and assist the chapter in reclaiming old traditions and planning programming for a chapter that hasn't experienced a normal year in a while as well as remind them why they chose Greek life and chose to be a member of Sigma Kappa. Finally, I want to empower the chapter to be independent in their programming and their leadership and allow these women to gain lifelong skills through their experience in Sigma Kappa." —Kylie Werk ʼ13 "I am excited about the leaders we have recruited to strengthen the corporation board. We have numerous events planned to engage our Beta Tau alumnae. We hope we will be able to include more alumnae from our rich 73-year history. We have improvements planned for the house so we can continue to strengthen our competitive positioning on campus. Our vision is to partner with the Advisory Board and the chapter executive team to create a safe, comfortable, and fun environment for our sisters to cultivate a culture of family and memories that can be shared for years to come." —Jeanneen Coleman Watson ʼ87 Meet the Board Members!
