Beta Phi Crier beta phi Chapter of Delta Tau Delta the ohio state university n SPRING 2022 A MESSAGE FROM OUR NEW PRESIDENT PAY IT FORWARD Remembering Paul Falkenbach '80 (Continued on page 2) I am both honored and humbled to be writing to you today as the House Association president. My predecessor and beloved Beta Phi alumnus, Paul Falkenbach '80, left big shoes to fill. As many of you are aware, Paul entered Chapter Eternal on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Seven months prior, Paul challenged me to pick up my corner of the flag and take the reigns as president of the Association. Spring is in the air, and you know what that means! Spring break, Greek Week, and graduation are all upon us. The chapter and Shelter are more alive than ever. With COVID seemingly behind us and mandates lifted, activities are in full force. If you haven't visited the Shelter or the surrounding campus area, you will be amazed by all the changes. Amongst these changes, the Shelter remains a prominent house on 15th Avenue. As the academic year comes to a close, the Association also concludes its first year without Ohio State as its property manager. We elected to hire Fraternity Managers Association, which is local to Ohio State and owned by fraternities and sororities. Alongside COVID, this was the largest change and challenge the chapter and Association had to overcome this year. With our dedicated volunteers and outstanding chapter, we have overcome both these obstacles. In closing, as Paul challenged me to pick up my corner of the flag, I do the same to you. The Association is always looking for volunteers to better serve the chapter and Shelter. If interested, do not hesitate to reach out. I am looking forward to seeing you all at Founder's Day. Fraternally, Kyle Huff '07 President, Beta Phi of Delta Tau Delta House Association T he Beta Phi Chapter of Delta Tau Delta is a special place for many reasons. First and foremost are the men who made it what it is today. One of those men was Paul Falkenbach '80. His dedication of time, treasure, and talent to Delta Tau Delta cannot be overstated. Paul was born July 29, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, and was one of four siblings. He graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1975. Having traveled to Iceland in the fall after graduation, Paul enrolled at The Ohio State University in 1976. He joined Beta Phi in the spring of that year and was initiated in November. Paul quickly became a very involved member. During his time as an undergraduate, Paul held various positions, including social chairman and president. He was very active in The Ohio State University Interfraternity Council, initially serving as the scarlet representative. He eventually rose to chief justice of the organization. After graduating, Paul was hired by Miller Brewing Company as a college marketing Paul Falkenbach '80 and his family.
