2 BETA MU LINK B eta Mu Chapter of Beta eta Pi felt a return to normalcy this past academic year as our brothers returned to experiencing the many traditions that make Purdue and Beta Mu so special, such as in the fall, when brothers celebrated a great Purdue football season filled with tailgates, our annual Dad's Day, and a win against Tennessee in the Music City Bowl. PHILANTHROPIC EFFORTS e fall semester also marked the second annual Buzz-a-Beta philanthropy. is year's event was led by the efforts of our philanthropy and community service chairmen, Jared Schingel '23 and Tommy Rzesztuko '23, and 60 brothers shaved their heads to raise awareness for the cause. In partnership with the Purdue Center for Cancer Research and the Tyler Trent Endowment, the brothers joined together to raise $43,000 for cancer research—with every dollar being matched by the PCCR for a total of $86,000! is was the most out of any fraternity on campus. Our spring community service was highlighted by a partnership with Natalie's Second Chance Dog Shelter in which brothers walked dogs in their free time. GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND e semester was highlighted with social events, such as Camp Beta and Barn Dance. e brothers showed a passion for getting involved on campus and in the community. Beta Mu Chapter is currently represented in over 35 student organizations on campus, and many brothers holds officer positions as well. To name a few: Sam Hildebrand '23 finished up his term as VP of recruitment for IFC; Josh Schumann '23 served a role as host coordinator for Old Masters; and Ryan Plummer '24 currently holds a board position for PCCR. e Chapter continues to work hard in the classroom, finishing in the top five for average fall GPA among Chapters. SPRING BONDING As we move into the spring semester, the brothers have enjoyed witnessing a very successful Purdue basketball season and getting back into the seats of Mackey to cheer on their Boilers. e Chapter also celebrated the initiation of the 2021-22 fall pledge class recruited by Ethan Copner '23 by admitting 29 new members into the brotherhood. Finally, the Chapter also organized a Winter and Spring Formal and a successful Mom's Day event at the house. e brothers are ready to finish the semester strong and are appreciative of another successful year for the Beta Mu Chapter!
