Chapter Advisor Nate Wong '15 H ello, my name is Nate Wong, and I graduated in 2015 after serving as Beta Pi's vice president of programming and chapter president. I currently volunteer as a chapter advisor and will also be assisting Branden Peterson '05 in composing future issues of The Beta Piper. Branden has worked diligently since 2004 to provide alumni with biannual updates on the status of the chapter. While I will be taking over The Beta Piper, Branden will still be very much involved with alumni and the Beta Theta Pi Society of Minnesota. Things are returning to normal on campus and at the chapter house as the number of daily positive COVID-19 cases in Minnesota continue to decrease. Most classes have been in person since fall 2021, with a few still operating in a hybrid style. To maintain safety, the University has required vaccines for all faculty and students, and masks are still required indoors. The chapter house has seen a lot more traffic this semester with more students on campus and weekly in-person chapter meetings and dinners returning to the house. The men have also been organizing philanthropic, recruitment, and social events at the chapter house. In February, the executive team attended the General Fraternity's Keystone event. Beta Pi attended virtually this year while a select few chapters piloted an updated, in-person program. At the event, the men worked to set goals for the upcoming year while also partaking in various training and workshops, some of which included: leadership strategies, diversity and inclusion, risk management, and recruitment. This semester, the executive team plans to focus on pledge retention and increasing a sense of brotherhood in the chapter after a few semesters of a virtual campus. If the pandemic situation in Minnesota continues to improve, the society will resume in-person alumni events this year. Look for future communication from us with more details. Our annual golf outing this year will take place at Keller Golf Course in Maplewood, Minnesota, on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 12 p.m.. Also, don't forget that alumni are always welcome and encouraged to attend initiation week events at the chapter house. Stay on the lookout for dates and details regarding these upcoming events. I'd like to thank Branden again for all the hard work he has put into maintaining The Beta Piper. I'm honored to continue those efforts by working to provide you with the information you want about the Beta Pi Chapter and its alumni! If you have any feedback or suggestions regarding alumni communication, I'd love to hear what you have to say! Please reach out to me directly at my email below.
