Born and raised in Martinsville, Virginia, cutting his musical
teeth in church and school choirs, Giles Blankenship has
been sharing the gospel of Christ through song for many
years. He is an accomplished musician and songwriter. As
the Minister of Worship at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church,
Giles has been especially instrumental in leading the church
through the pandemic with his steady spirit.
When it became obvious that worship in a traditional sense
was no longer possible due to COVID-19, Giles and his team
got to work. Snyder already had most of the technology
in place to share worship services via digital and social
media. Giles is committed to bringing the church to people
exactly where they are, and with his capable team, Giles was
instrumental in making sure Snyder's church members, and
the community at large, were still able to worship when it
became impossible to do so in person.
One of Giles's many talents as a leader and a musician is
helping people find their own gifts. Adolescent and teenage
years are especially important milestones in a spiritual
journey, and through the Youth Praise Band and Giles's
involvement with Snyder's youth program, Giles has been

able to give many young people in our area the chance for
fellowship, worship and exploring their relationship with
Christ. All of Snyder's youth, along with any of their friends
they may bring from the community, are welcome. Those
who don't feel comfortable playing an instrument or singing
are invited to learn more about audio-visual production or to
act as greeters. The Youth Praise Band practices on Sunday
afternoons and leads worship on select Sunday mornings
and Sunday evenings.
