T8 WHATS UP! March 20 - 26, 2022 BY RAYE SMITH TV Media WHAT'S NEW ON NETFLIX "Bridgerton" - Season 2 The social season is upon us once again, which means more salacious romances and rumors when the hit Regency-era drama "Bridgerton" premieres its sec- ond season on Friday, March 25, on Netflix. While Season 1 set screens aflame with the tumul- tuous romance between Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor, "Dickensian") and Simon Bas- set, Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page, "For The People"), Season 2 switches gears to focus on the love life of another of the eight Bridgerton siblings. Based on the second book in the Bridger- ton series of novels by Julie Quinn, "The Viscount Who Loved Me," this new season looks to the love life of Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey, "Broadchurch"), the eldest of the family's children. Following a heartbreaking split from his se- cret lover in the first season, An- thony is now out to marry for anything but love. Setting his sights on the diamond of the sea- son, Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran, "Alex Rider"), the story becomes all the more com- plicated when Edwina's sister, Kate (Simone Ashley, "Sex Edu- cation"), steps into the equation. From Shondaland Productions and executive producers Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers and Chris Van Dusen of "Grey's Anatomy," "Scandal" and "Private Practice," the series is directed by Tom Verica ("Scandal"), Tricia Brock ("Saving Grace") and Alex Pillai ("Chilling Adventures of Sabri- na").
