Kara has had many pinch-me moments over the years. She was sent to England to cover filming on three Harry Potter films—an experience she didn't think would ever be topped—until she was invited to the set of Magic Mike XXL to watch the cast film their final dances. But for all the flashy benefits, the most validating moments in her career have involved the toughest subjects, like covering tragedies or life-altering events. "With those assignments, you're usually asking someone to share or relive their most vulnerable or painful memories and hoping you can do their story justice. Any time I've heard from a story subject who is proud of or appreciates what I wrote … those moments are the most rewarding." As a Colorado native, Kara enjoys spending time in nature when she's not at work. Living in California and close to the water affords her the luxury of getting her toes in the sand and ocean frequently, which she tries to never to take for granted. She also remains close to her immediate family. "We make a point of taking family trips at least once a year—sometimes twice if we're lucky," Kara said. "We recently visited the Redwood forests in southern Oregon and northern California, and I cannot recommend it enough!" Reflecting on her life, Kara is forever thankful for Alpha Chi Omega. From memories of Rock Chalk Revue to the responsibilities she took on, ΑΧΩ has been a source of building blocks. "I made so many lifelong friends, and it gave me a great foundation for successfully navigating a lot of future life events," Kara said.
