Scholarships are grants or pay-
ments made to support a student's
education. ey are awarded based
on academic or other achieve-
ments. For decades, scholarships
have made a tremendous impact on
students' success in achieving their
goals and graduating without incur-
ring the exorbitant costs of going to
college. Scholarships can decrease
loan debt for many students in
rigorous programs at Fayetteville
Technical Community College, such
as health-related and automotive
repair fields.
While some students do not have
any problems paying for school, it
can be a daunting task for others.
Scholarships give students the tools
and time they need to focus more
on their studies without worrying
about its expense; scholarships can
help to empower students. e best
thing about scholarships is that the
funds are considered gift funds and
do not have to be paid back.
When facing hardships from the
pandemic, there is still hope. State
and federal funding are available
to assist students while navigat-
ing situations caused by COVID.
FTCC has been allocated funds to
help support both curriculum and
continuing education students.
Funding is prorated, meaning that
aid is based on actual enrollment.
COVID-19 funding has become an
incentive for students to achieve
and be steadfast in maintaining
their grades and ultimately com-
pleting each semester successfully.
FTCC has Coronavirus Aid Relief
and Economic Security (CARES)
Act Funding for curriculum stu-
dents and Governor's Emergency
Education Relief (GEER) Funding
for continuing education students.
Students are required to complete a
short application to be considered
for funding.
In addition, FTCC is very proud
and fortunate to have the FTCC
Foundation. e Foundation holds
a fund drive to generate funds to
assist students with tuition, fees
and books every year. Students can
complete general applications via
the website faytechcc.academic-
works.com/. General applications
are open from January to the end of
March every year. e Foundation
also assists with emergency fund-
ing for extenuating situations when
students need immediate help.
FTCC hopes to ensure each
student's educational journey is
as seamless as possible. Whether
by merit or need, students have
many scholarship opportunities to
help them enjoy their educational
journeys without the added stress of
financial burden. Students' success
can often be directly attributed to
lessened stress through the avail-
ability of funding to support aca-
demic pursuits.
As FTCC'c mission states, they
"serve our community as a learn-
ing-centered institution to build a
globally competitive workforce that
supports economic development."
With the help of scholarships, the
possibilities as students find their
way forward is endless. FTCC is cur-
rently registering students for eight-
week spring classes in March.
